To be eligible for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Eligibility Criteria
- Hispanic Heritage: Applicants must be of Hispanic heritage, meaning at least one parent must be of Hispanic/Latino descent or the applicant identifies as Hispanic/Latino.
- Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent legal residents, DACA recipients, or eligible non-citizens as determined by FAFSA.
- Minimum GPA: High school students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Undergraduate and graduate students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Enrollment: Applicants must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, non-profit four-year university or graduate school in the U.S. for the upcoming academic year.
- FAFSA: Applicants must submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable).
Application Requirements
- Transcript: Applicants must provide their most recent high school or college transcript.
- FAFSA: Applicants must complete the FAFSA and submit their Student Aid Report (SAR).
- Financial Aid Award Letter: Applicants must submit the financial aid award letter from the college/university they will be attending.
- Personal Photo: Applicants must submit a professional headshot or student photo.
- Enrollment Verification: Applicants must request enrollment verification from their college/university’s admissions office.
- Personal Essay: Applicants must write a personal essay about their goals, strengths, educational values, and reasons for applying.
- Recommendation Letters: Applicants must submit at least one academic recommendation letter from a teacher, counselor, or mentor.
- Employment Authorization Document (EAD): DACA recipients must submit an EAD.
The HSF scholarships are open to high school seniors, undergraduate students, community college transfer students, and graduate students. While all majors are accepted, there is an emphasis on STEM fields. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $5,000, depending on financial need.
